Make Money Running a Forum

Forums are a great way to make money in the long run. Although it is very competitive and difficult to move into the space IF your topic is already somewhat popular but, there is a good opportunity for those who make the first move quickly. A good forum is something the visitor will bookmark and come back to more and more. Users get "hooked" as they find the forum to be a good place for them to get the information they need and communicate directly with others interested in the same subject. Good forums are "very sticky".

Setting up your own forum is not rocket science. Getting the right subject quickly and getting targetted traffic are the challenging parts. There are plenty of freely available open source solutions that can help you get a good forum system up and running. Additionally, many web hosting companies do provide a visual web based system to get your forum up and running.

Here are some tips to those of you thinking of starting a forum -

  • Choose a niche forum and look around the web to first check if there are any forums already out there servicing your niche area.
  • Look out for new hot topics or events around which a long term forum can be quickly created that argets a large user base that may be interested in discussing the topic. Fresh topic examples would be -

1) a new movie

2) a new popular television series

3) a global event

4) a new technology

5) a new celebrity

6) a new upcoming rising music band

7) a shocking controversy

8) a sporting event

and so on…

The trick is to hit on a topic that is fresh and new, and then to move quickly.

Also, you must have some interest on the topic and be motivated enough to make postings and keep discussions alive and participate in them over the coming months. Quickly setup your forum software overnight and start making a few initial posts. Then goto online areas where yor potential target visitor is, and make postings with signatures pointing to your forums. Submit your forum link and postings to Google.

Form a small group of about 5 people to help you popularize your forum and plant the initial "seed" topics - that Google will spider. You maintain full admin control of the forum - but get into a deal with about 4 to 5 other people promising them a % cut of ad revenues, once the forum starts earning.

Running a forum alone will mostly not be possible and you will need help of others who can each spare abouy 15 to 30 minutes per day making relevant posts into your forum - so the search engines like Google spider these pages and start directing traffic to your forum.

Two very popular and advanced free forum softwares (or web "scripts" as they are called) you could use are -

If you are web savvy and are comfortable with basic script configuration and setting up websites, this should be easy for you to get up and running. Otherwise hire someone to set it up and give you the administration links to operate and maintain the forum (its fairly simple). The person should take at most about 30 to 60 minutes to get your forum up and running and install a template theme of your choice. All the above forums will have their own freely available large variety of "themes, "skins" and "graphics" - that you can choose to be the look and feel. You can always change this in the future - but its better to stick to one good theme as visitors will get familiar to your site colors once they keep coming back.

To monetize your forum you will need to insert ads at the top or bottom of each of your pages. Some suggestions are -

  • Google Adsense (does not support adult, hacking or controverisal topics) If you have Google ads on your website, they wont let you run ads from another competing similar - Contextual Ads systems - like Yahoo Publishing Network, or adbrite.
  • Yahoo Publisher Network
  • Adbrite (supports adult, hacking or controverisal topics)
  • Kontera (can run this in addition to Google Adsense. This system monetizes words across your website by making thme underlined and clickable. See xyz for an example.
  • Auction Ads (displays page content relevant aucitons on Ebay with graphics. Can run with Adsense)
  • Amazon Associates Program (displays context relevant books and goods being sold on Amazon)

These are a few tips that you should bookmark. If at some point in the future you sense a particular new topic that has potential to get popular quickly - do your homework, and come back here and get started right away!

A Few Tips while Choosing Your Domain Name

1. Your domain name should be easy to spell and remember

2. Try to have the .com extension as a priority, although this is now fast changing and not a requirement anymore - as people are getting familiar with the alternate domain extensions. (TLDs)

3. You should plan to have words that spell or identify your business type. This will help in directory ranking, and in rare cases Search Engine Optimization, and direct "type-in" traffic.

4. Even if you already have a domain name that spells out your company name, and does not describe what your business is as an English word(s) – you should go ahead and book a new domain name that uses a combination of English words (or your language words) as a part of the name. Try and snap up a few combinations and once the domain is booked, simply point traffic coming in to your main company website. These extra domains will help you rank higher up in Search Engines and pull in additional traffic.

5. Most single dictionary words are taken, try and combine 2 or 3 short words to make up your name.

6. If you are selling only in a particular geographical area – try and get that countries extension.

7. Feel free to use other country extensions if you get a catchy and easy to remember word. Eg. Try and snap up yourname.in , yourname.ws , yourname.tk etc.

8. Visit domain brokerage sites like www.buydomains.com and see if you can find any interesting domains, that fit your product or service, being resold (at higher prices generally) from the current owner. Sometimes, you can get a rare deal – that will help your business in many way – including the fact that this new domain may already have certain amount of residual traffic coming in on a daily basis. Email the owner(s) and ask them as many questions as you feel – before you snap up the domain – specially if it is costing you a bomb. Buydomain acts as the middleman and Escrow services are provided – so the transaction is clean, and there is no need to worry about anyone cheating you by not transferring the domain name to you even though you sent the money. Escrow services hold on to your money until they get a green signal from you that the domain name transfer has indeed been done. Only then do they release the payment to the domain seller.

A good website to quickly search for availability of domain names is www.whois.ws

What is CPM, CPC, CPA and CTR ?

CPM

CPM means Cost Per Thousand. (M is the Roman numeral for thousand – and so Cost Per Thousand).

This is the amount you will pay the ad-network or website publisher to show your ad a thousand times on their website or across their ad-network.

Whether your ad is shown only once to each visitor (Unique Impressions) or any number of times – is something that you will have to work out with the nad-network or the website.

CPM rates were once (pre yr 2000 bubble-burst era) as much as $75, but have now dropped to as little as $1 CPM.

CPC

CPC means Cost Per Click. This is how much you would pay the ad-network or website every time a visitor clicks on your banner. CPC rates can be as high as $3 per click or as little as 5 cents per click. It depends on your product and your market - amongst other factors, the more competition there is – the higher you will probably end up paying as you compete with competitors.

CPA

CPA means Cost Per Action. The Action could be any of the following types of actions – A visitor clicking on your banner coming to your site and filling up a simple enquiry form (CPR – Cost Per Registration) , or if the visitor makes a purchase (CPS – Cost Per sale). It could be a flat fee or a percentage commission of the sale made. Affiliate-Networks like www.commissionjunction.com , www.linkshare.com and www.clickbank.net have very good software systems in place to track all this and provide statistics to online merchants and publishers on their network of websites.

I have explained in detail what an Affiliate Network is, in another section. They basically, allow publisher websites to sign up for free so they can start earning commissions on sales arising out of the traffic they send to online merchants. The Affiliate Network tracks all this using their system and code merchants and publishers are required to place on their website. Publishers can sign up for free mostly, and in some cases online Merchants are required to pay a one time setup fee and possibly a monthly fee with commissions – eg. As in commissionjunction.com . A very popular site that is free to Merchants is Clickbank.com network.

CTR

CTR is Click Through Rate. This is the percentage rate at which people click on your ad banner. If your banner ad is seen by 100 people but clicked by one person – then it's CTR is 1% or .01

Similarly, if your ad banner is seen 100,000 times and in the same time period it is clicked 2000 times – then your banner CTR is 2% or .02 .

This is how we calculate CTR …

(Number of Clicks / Number of impressions) x 100

Example, for above case it would be –

(2000 / 100,000) x 100 = .02

CPM, CPC or CPA … which is best for my ad campaign?

Your choice will depend on various factors. Sometimes companies such as Pepsi, would just like to enforce their brand and be seen across many websites, without any need for the user to click on their banners. This is a brand hammering strategy, and a CPM deal would be preferred.

Apart from the above mass branding effort, the decision to go for a CPC, CPM or CPA ad becomes a calculated decision when you have a product that you want to sell on your website.

Would you pay the publisher for only visitors he sends you? or would you pay him for every thousand ads he displays for you?or would you pay him a commission on sales from visitors he sends you?

This is tricky. You may need to read the paragraphs below slowly, or even several times over to get the gist of what I am saying …

To help you decide, you should first run a pilot CPM campaign that will help you gauge results. Your CPM campaign and number of Clicks on your banner, will let you know exactly what your CTR (Click through Rate) is for your banner.

Your CTR will help you decide your campaign type - CPM or CPC ? If your CTR is high, you should go in for a CPM, if its low you should go in for a CPC.

The reason for this is simple. If you have a low CTR then you would rather only pay for the low traffic that comes to your site. If your CTR is high , then you don't mind paying CPM - because your cost will not escalate for more and more visitors that come to your site, but will remain the same.

I will explain the above, with a couple of examples -

Example 1

Lets suppose a website that you want to advertise on charges a CPM of $5.00 and a CPC of 50 cents.

And, you need to decide if you should go in for CPM or CPC ?

Lets suppose you first buy 1,000,000 impressions.

This works out to $5000 ($5 per 1000 impressions x 1000)

Now lets suppose your CTR is not good and is 0.2 % (or 2 clicks per 1000 ads)

Now, you need to calculate the amount you will pay of you had bought a CPC.

If your CTR is 0.2% and you display 1,000,000 ads, then this works out to …

.002 x 1,000,000 = 2000 clicks.

So essentially you have paid $5000 for 2000 clicks or $2.50 per click!!

This means that I am better of buying on a CPC basis, because one click there costs me only 50cents! And if I go for CPC, then I will get 10,000 clicks for $5000 … which is 5 times more than the clicks i get in the CPM model (2000).

Example 2

Lets assume that your banner ad turns out to be very good and gets a very good CTR of say 5%

Now you need to decide ..CPM or CPC.

Lets analyze as above -

I paid $5000 for 1,000,000 ads at 5% CTR

That means 5% x 1,000,000 ads were clicked on , which equals

= .05 (5%) x 1,000,000 = 50,000 clicks!

So for $5000 i got 50,000 clicks.

Now, if I had bought on a click basis, then at the CPC rate of (50cents) I will pay

50,000 x $0.50 amount for 50,000 clicks, which is $25,000 (5 times what I would pay with CPM, for the same traffic)

So, I am better of buying with a CPM system for this banner ad campaign

What about CPA ?

I have dedicated a separate chapter for this. This system is gaining popularity slowly. It seems to be the fairest system of all the three methods – specially when you are selling a product or service. Both Google and Yahoo are leaning towards taking their CPC system into a more fair and measurable CPA system. Google has recently launched Google Analytics and Google's version of PayPal (Google Checkout) - that is a positive and firm step towards its CPA plans.
Selling ad-space on your website - how much can you charge?

Nowadays CPM rates have fallen from highs of $50 to $10 to $2 in many cases.

If you have high traffic you may approach ad-networks, and they will serve out the ads for your website. They will give you a piece of code to insert into the pages of your website. You will get a Username and Password to login to a control panel area on the ad-networks main website, to see how your site is performing. Ad-networks pay you based on CPM or CPC, depending on what their client (the advertiser) opt for. They will take from 40% to 60% commission. This is acceptable, considering the fact that they get you the clients and revenues, and they have to manage all the advertising technology and payment systems.

Most of these ad-networks require that you have a certain number of impressions per month to qualify to become part of their network of websites. For example, DoubleClick requires at minimum 5 million monthly page impressions. There are many mid sized networks, like www.Advertising.com , www.fastclick.com , www.ValueClick.com(only CPC, owned partially by DoubleClick) and even smaller ad networks like, www.burstnet.com . You should visit www.adbalance.com to get a complete list and brief on popular ad networks.

Banner Management Software

If you would like to manage your own Clients and their banner ads for your website, you will need to develop an ad-serving engine or license a third party engine and install it on your website. You can get a list of free and paid software scripts that you can install on your website from www.cgi-resources.com or www.hotscripts.com.

A List of Top Advertising Networks

Here are some advertising networks that you may want to use to monetize your website traffic. These are from the more popular ones out there. I have followed the posting with a larger comprehensive list of ad networks.

Kontera ContentLink

Kontera will convert some words on your web page into click-able links. They will then pay you every time someone clicks on a link. Each link has a double underline, and every time someone hovers their mouse cursor on top of the link a small popup ad shows up showing an ad. You don't earn anything for these mini-ad displays and you only get paid if and when the user clicks on the mini ad or the link. [ go ]

Text Link Ads

This network works very well only after your site has a certain minimum amount of daily traffic. If you get around 100 to 200 page views daily, this will probably not work well for you, since they have a "featured sites" page listing that lists the top performing sites only. I've tried to list my site on them but haven't had any luck so far. [ go ]

Google Adsense Ads

If you don't know what Adsense is then you need to do some serious catching up. When site owners get accepted by Google Adsense, they place ads in their pages that can be of several different sizes - as text only ads, graphic ads and rich multimedia or a combination of them. The Google system studies the content of your web page and accordingly displays matching "contextual ads" on your pages. This is the best way for content developers with any amount of traffic to get started. [ go ]

Bidvertiser

Bidvertiser is a Google Adsense type contextual advertising network. The only difference is that their payout ceiling is as low as $10, so you don't need to reach the $100 mark until your payment is sent to you - as with Google Adsense. This works very well for the really small content creators specially in third world countries. [ go ]

Azoogle Ads

Azoogle is one of the largest and best performing affiliate advertising networks globally. They pay you on a CPA (Cost-Per-Action) basis - where the action can be anything from filling up a web form, purchasing something, participating in a survey etc. Merchants who want to build a large network of affiliate websites, sign up with them and specify their action required and offering, which is listed in their directory. Then content publishers browse Azoogle directory and choose the merchants ads that they wish to display. The payout per action can be anywhere between $1 to $100. Recently Google has entered the Affiliate Network space with their Adsense Referral scheme, which looks pretty good. [ go ]

Auction Ads

This is basically a middle man that pays you for Ebay referral traffic - just the same way as Ebay would pay you if you signed up directly with them. The advantage is that because they are so huge, they can offer you a larger commission. Currently they pay you 100% of the referral earnings. I also like their customizable ad boxes. The only problem here is that your site needs to have a lot of traffic to generate any money at all. [ go ]

ReviewMe

This one is for bloggers. If you blog and have about 100+ regular readers then you should list yourself in the ReviewMe directory. This is basically a system that facilitates paid reviews on blogs… so you can get paid for writing a review for a website! The amount you get paid depends on traffic and topic. Usually ReviewMe analyzes your site and sets the price, but you can change that if you like. ReviewMe takes a cut of the money you earn, and the only requirement is that the review be at least 200 words. [ go ]

FeedBurner Network

If you have feeds going out to a large number of feed readers then you may want to try signing up with the Feedburner Network. They pay on a CPM basis with CPM rates going up as high as $10. They also allow regular web page CPM advertising other than in-feed ads. [ go ]

Adbrite Ads

Adbrite is another contextual ad network, that pays on a CPM or CPC basis. [ go ]

More Girl Power ! How this 17 year old makes $70,000 per month giving away free stuff

Ashley Qualls is 17 years of age and runs a site called Whateverlife.com that gives away free chic looking themes for Myspace pages. Whats brilliant is that she makes an average of $70,000 every month doing this. She quickly fires up Photoshop and churns out a couple of new themes daily, hardly spending an hour or so doing this. Thats it. Its almost on autopilot requiring minimal work and its not complicated and doesn't need more than one person to do.

Like most ideas - if you're in early and take advantage and move fast - you can dominate and benefit from the "winner takes all" phenomena… as virally spreading news of your product stirs up even more viral growth. If you have an idea that gives something of good perceived value away for free - and people love it and spread it by using it, then you can benefit from steroidal virally growing spikes of traffic. This is something we initially saw with hotmail - with their simple tag line at the end of each mail message …."Get Your Free and Fast Email at Hotmail.com" Other examples are egreeting card sites like "BlueMontain Arts" and now Ashley has done it with her website that gives away chic layouts and skins for free to people using Myspace.com that allows them to dress up their personal pages for friends and visitors to see. Somewhere in each free skin - is a simple tag line that informs visitors where they can get similar skins and layouts for free. This, like Hotmail, is highly viral. She makes money by displaying ads on her website to a highly sought after age group. Infact she has turned down several offers of a buy out inssting she can do better than what was offered.

Ashley took advantage of this "new area" and moved in quickly, spreading the awareness of her cool site with the free templates VERY EARLY in the piece.

This is important… she saw the gap and opportunity early on and moved in quickly and initially. Were you to try and replicate what she is doing now - it will NOT work. Why? Because she and a few others have already spread their offerings all over and captured 99% of the market.

Unless, you have some radically-mind-boggling-unique-never-seen-before skins and themes don't bother wasting your time trying to replicate her smple strategy and expect to make the kind of revenues she is making from targeted ads on her site.

For those of you who would like to read more and in detail on Ashley's journey and how she made it to where she is, FastCompany as written a brilliant article about her that you may find very entertaining.

Metacafe Money - How you can make money with videos

There are a few good video clip sites that will pay you for your videos. One such website is Metacafe.com – where you can sign up for their "Producer Rewards" program and upload your videos. When your video crosses the 20,000 views mark, you get $100 and $5 per 1000 views from there-onwards. This is provided your video rating by viewers is more than 3.0 out of a total of 5.0

If you are creative and own a camcorder (if you don't you should buy one today) - this could potentially be very lucrative. The payout rates as above are very good. There are many people here earning a good side income with their creativity. The trick is to go to Metacafe.com and see what kind of videos are earning money. Categorize them and see if you can offer a similar video or a twist on something there – but its best to be unique. People want to be entertained… so show them something unique and amazing or weird. Shock people! Make them laugh! Make them gasp in awe! Make them say – wow!

To see the current top videos and those that are earning good money visit - this link.

Here are some of the categories and type of videos that are earning good money, and some ideas for you to make money by making videos -

Magic Tricks (show it – but if its really good, don't sshow them how to do it , or the magician community will ban you)

Eater EggsEaster Eggs are strange things software developers put into software they create that can be seen by executing certain sequence of actions. Google "windows XP easter eggs" and find some examples. They are fun and whacky and people love to find these hidden gems and fun things inside Word, Excel, Photoshop, Grand Theft Auto or virtually any popular software or game.

Puzzles or Challenges – these can be as simple as matchstick or card puzzles that you demonstrate and ask the viewers to solve. Repeat your question a couple of times and ask them to solve it. Then after a moment – give them the solution.

PC Tricks – You may use a screen capture software like Camtasia to record your desktop screen. Then you can show viewers some fun stuff – be it handy shortcuts to do, some PC tricks, or amazing things online … for example a Google search for the word "failure", shows a funny result (you need to go do this!).

Amazing Experiments – could be simple fork and knife balancing acts, carbonated fizz drink acts, safe firecracker stuff, or anything that's not dangerous but entertains.

Tutorials – These could be general tutorials (on how t odo a Yoga pose) or even PC software tutorials – eg. How to do a create fancy headline text in photoshop or something cool in 3D Max or Google's 3D software – Sketchup or any other popular software being used by hobbyists. They love this stuff!

Hacking – some basic "ethical" hacking videos, showing the common and uneducated person some simple and amazing (non-harmful) hacking tricks – be it Search Engine hacks, or software hacks. Don't encourage any fraudulent and illegal activity as you will be booted out of Metacafe and also get into trouble.

Travel Videos – If you travel overseas, record videos of fun moments and amazing things you see and people you meet.

Cooking – Show the world how to make the best blueberry cheesecake pie! ..or anything that's simple to make and unique – and what the masses would love to learn to quickly impress their friends, family and spouse!

Science Experiments – If you're the geek type, show them some cool scientific experiments.

Origami – make a the next cool paper flapping bird and show them how its done.

Alert 1: Do not perform any dangerous stunts that could cost you an arm or a leg. Its not worth the money and the risk. Be careful. And if you must – make sure you have a supervisor or friend who can help you if anything goes wrong.

Alert 2: Do not under any circumstance rip of and copy someone's video and upload it – as this could get you in some serious legal problems.

Alert 3: Do not use any soundtrack or clips or logos of copyrighted material. You may earn a bit –but then Metacafe can block you out quickly and not pay you for violating their terms.

Alert 4: Head over to a Do-It-Yourself site (DIY) or a site like expert village - see what videos are popular and make similar ones for the audience at Metacafe! It could'nt get simpler! I just saw a video on this guy showing how to remove scratches from a CD so skipping can be eradicated… this video has made $400 plus in a very short period of time.

If you have a blog you could increase your traffic / views of your video submitted by cutting and pasting the embedded code of your video(s) from Metacafe.com into your blog. These "off-site" views will also make the counter tick. You could also paste and embed your video(s) into your myspace.com page for your friends to see and pass around. All this will increase your views and get you closer to the 20,000 mark, after which you can start earning money!

Another good site that also pays you for your videos is Revver.com

Seven Habits of Successful Bloggers

1. They Blog with consistent frequency.

Make up your mind first on how often you will make posts on your blog. If you want to do it twice a day, or once a day, or once every 2 days or just once a week - decide this and then stick to it. Don't post everyday for a few days and then do nothing at all for a week. You will lose whatever repeat "sticky" traffic you could get.

2. Be passionate about your topic

This is a given. You have to be passionate about what you blog. This is the only motivator for you along with the money you could make. The passion will drive you through the dry revenue periods initially. You must read about your niche blogging topic, and keep updated. If you are not passionate about your blog, you will probably not excite your readers.

3. Interact with readers

Allow your readers to post questions directly to you and reach you if needed. Don't alienate yourself from them. Many readers may want to get in touch with you and ask you questions. Listen to them, and help them out! Blogging is a two way street. Involve your readers and they will be loyal to you. Build two way relationships!

4. Dont be afraid to link out

If you see and read a good posting or article someplace else, link to it! This may seem contrary to popular belief and at first it looks like you are channeling traffic away from your site at the risk of getting your readers hooked elsewhere - it actually may work in many cases. By providing valuable links to other stories - you are gianing authority and credibility by showing that you know what is happening around you. Readers will love you for referring them to other stories - and will come back for more stuff if you send them to quality articles in the sea of poor content.

5. Build Your Blog Brand

Whatever you choose to call your blog - make sure you have your own domain name and not a subdomain on say for example yourname.blogspot.com . That just doesnt work in the long run forserious bloggers. Take control of all you can do with free blog softwares like Wordpress and install them on your domain - it takes less than an hour and you can easily contract out someone for as little as $50 to install it. Having your own domain name gives you your unique brand, and allow you to stand out from the crowd.

6. Be a good writer

Communicate your thoughts and ideas in well structured English. Some people take longer than others to express their thoughts. Its ok to have a few typos as its acceptable by blog readers. But dont have too many typos. People are interested in the content. Be clear and to the point - and dont ramble on and on repetitively.

7. Read other blogs in your industry

See what other competing blogs are writing. Read a LOT. Reading is something you must do. Visit websites that are related to your blog topics and get ideas from them - but never copy them word for word. Its ok to summarize another bloggers post in your own words, and saying the same thing in your way.

17 Ways to Make Money on Social Media Sites

With the outburst of Web2.0 social media websites, one can now start exploiting them to make extra cash. Once can use some of them to redirect traffic to your main site, and some will pay you direct cash to create content or use them. I've talked about one such site called Metacafe in great detail with tips on making money with videos the past. Here's more …

Cash for Videos

1. Revver - Like Metacafe, it will pay you to put videos on their site. You earn after your clip crosses a certain threshhol of views. As an example - LonelyGirl creators used this to rake in a lot of money.

2. Break - They quickly realized they were losing ground to the other popular video sites and started to pay users $400 per video and $2000 for an animated video IF the video made it to the first page.

3. MetaCafe - I've spoken at length about Metacafe Money in this post. You get $100 for 20,000 views, $1000 for 200,000 views and $10,000 for 2 million views. Some users are earning more than $25,000.

4. Google Video - Exclusive only to some very viral videos. They wont pay anyone and everyone for putting up the videos, but if you make it to their list - expect to earn a healthy stream of income.

5. Eefoof - Pays you to submit any video and drive visitors to view the videos.

6. Flixya - Will payyou to simply embedd and post videos from other video sites and drive users to those videos. you stand to earn 50% revenue share.

7. Guba - More of an Affiliate scheme, they will pay you $25 for every 100 users who register on their site via your embedded videos or links.

Cash for Photos

8. Scoopt, ScoopLive and CellJournalist - will pay you for your newsworthy photos if you submit them to the site and your photos get picked up by the media - who apparantly they actively promote their collection of photos to.

9. SpyMedia - Sells your photos to media companies like the sites above, but also offer your a bounty and widget feature allowing you to embedd our photos on various Web2.0 social networking siteslike Myspace.

Cash for Writing

10. BlogBurst - Syndicates content to new sites like Washington Post. The top 100 users get paid between $50 and $1,500 per quarter.

11. PayPerPost - Pays you to blog about certain products for advertisers without actually revelaing that it is a paid review to your readers. This has been very controversial. The amount depends on the popularity of your blog, but it can be in the hundreds of dollars per post. ReviewMe is a competitor, but less controverial because the writer reveals that it is a sponsored post.

12. ScooptWords - A branch of Scoopt, this service gives you the ability to place a button offering your blogging services in your sidebar so edotirs of media companies can directly click on it to purchase reviews.

Other Web2.0 Money Makers

13. VitaminT - Offers $3 for submitting a useful tip. Readers can subscribe to these tips via email.

14. ChaCha - This is a human search engine like Mahalo. Sign up as an expert for a particular topic and when users of ChaCha ask for professional advice on a topic you help them and in return earn from $5 to $10 per hour.

15. FavoriteThingz and MyPickList - Both services from Sprout Commerce offer you an Affiliate commission to pimp merchant products on your blog or social network profile to others. Post a list of your FavoriteThingz on your MySpace page, for instance, and you'll get paid an affiliate commission when visitors click through and buy a product.

16. MyNumo - This is a marketplace for mobile content. Earn money to sell your own videos, ringtones and wallpaper and earn 20% of the revenue.

17. Propeller (previously known as Netscape) - This digg.com clone will pay you to post links to interesting stories as they break around the web. The top 50 users on these sites get paid $1,000/month for submitting at least 150 stories… although, currently they seem to have stopped paying top users.

    Policeman was testing 3 brothers

A policeman was testing 3 brothers who were training to become detectives.

To test their skills in recognizing a suspect, he shows the first one a picture for 5 seconds and then hides it. "This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?"

The first one answers, "That's easy; we'll catch him fast because he only has one eye!" The policeman says, "Well...uh...that's because the picture I showed is his side profile."

Slightly flustered by this ridiculous response, he flashes the picture for 5 seconds at the second one and asks him, "This is your suspect, and how would you recognize him?"

The second one smiles and says, "Ha! He'd be too easy to catch because he only has one ear!" The policeman angrily responds,
"What's the matter with you two? Of course only one eye and one ear are showing because it's a picture of his side profile! Is that the best answer you can come up with?"

Extremely frustrated at this point, he shows the picture to the third one and in a very testy voice asks, "This is your suspect, how would you recognize him?

He quickly adds, "Think hard before giving me a stupid answer." He looks at the picture intently for a momant and says, "The suspect wears contact lenses." The policeman is surprised and speechless because he really doesn't know himself if the suspect wears contacts or not. "Well, that's an interesting answer. Wait here for a few minutes while I check his file and I'll get back to you on that." He leaves the room and goes to his office, checks the suspect's file in his computer, and comes back with a beaming smile on his face.

"Wow! I can't believe it. It's TRUE! The suspect does in fact wear contact lenses. Good work! How were you able to make such an astute observation?"

"That's easy," he replied. "He can't wear regular glasses because he only has one eye and one ear."

    Daily Horoscope

    ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
  • At this time you are more sensitive to beauty and also to the feelings and needs of others. It is easy for you to give generously of yourself, for you sympathize strongly with other people and spiritual values are more important than material ones at this time.

  • .
    TAURUS (April 20 - May 20)
  • This is a very good time to go to the theater, an art exhibit, or social gathering. You want to see beautiful things and exchange pleasantries with others. In fact, matters of the heart are on your mind and you may want to play match-maker now.

  • .
    GEMINI (May 21 - June 20)
  • You are optimistic and possibly extravagant now. You are less cautious than usual, feeling that nothing can possibly go wrong. If you are inclined to overindulge, overspend, or go to excesses in any manner, this tendency is exaggerated at this time.

  • .
    CANCER (June 21 - July 22)
  • You are inspired creatively, artistically, or spiritually at this time. Your imagination, intuition, and psychic sensitivity are high now, and you find yourself wanting to paint or listen to music, daydream, or fantasize rather than concentrate on practical matters.

  • .
    LEO (July 23 - August 22)
  • You may be considering a major overhaul or revision in your ambitions at this time. If you do not have a sense of meaningful purpose or a passionate commitment to anything, you will want to reassess where you are going and why. If you do have a clear goal, you can make significant progress and work with great satisfaction now. An opportunity to do what you really want to do is likely.

  • .
    VIRGO (August 23 - September 22)
  • Your vitality and personal impact on others is higher now and you're likely to draw attention to yourself without trying or to receive some special recognition. Relations with others flow smoothly.

  • .
    LIBRA (September 23 - October 22)
  • This can be a time for exposing and talking about hidden, intensely private, secret, or taboo subjects. Your mind is very probing and your conversations and interactions with others are intense. Pat answers and superficialities don't suffice now. You can be too intrusive or overbearing when stating your point of view.

  • .
    SCORPIO (October 23 - November 21)
  • You tend to be tense, "wired", on edge, a bit nervous or jumpy, and you will need to take a little time to breathe deeply and settle yourself. The pace of the day may make this difficult, however. You are apt to be too quick to respond or respond inappropriately to questions, tests, quizzes, etc. If you consciously slow down, you will do a lot better.

  • .
    SAGITTARIUS (November 22 - December 21)
  • Nervous tension, impatience, uneven or erratic rhythms, and/or a disruption of your usual pace can make this time very challenging. You are apt to deal with some recalcitrant people or become that way yourself. Beware of burning bridges behind you in your heightened impatience or restless intolerance of anything that thwarts you now.

  • .
    CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 19)
  • This increased flexibility and responsiveness develops rather easily now, and consequently this is a very positive time. You feel less restricted and confined by circumstances in your life.

  • .
    AQUARIUS (January 20 - February 18)
  • In a rather fleeting mood of expansiveness and generosity, you offer a service or donation which is more than you can really afford. Purchasing on impulse is not recommended either, as it is apt to be a rather frivolous and/or regrettable choice. You are in the mood for diversion now, which is fine as long as it doesn't cost you too much in the long run.

  • .
    PISCES (February 19 - March 20)
  • You are impulsively affectionate and flirtatious at this time, and you feel quite restless if you are in a stable, predictable relationship that offers little excitement. You may be highly attracted to someone new, simply because of the novelty and possibilities for adventure. Also, your friends or love partner may behave in unexpected ways. Flexibility and open-mindedness in your relationships is called for now.

    Remember me in yours Prays

    To be right now

    To be right now,
    Than to be home,
    Listening to the crickets' sounds,
    Outside the windows.
    Is there a better place,
    To be right now,
    Than in the bed,
    Closing my eyes,
    Falling into a deep sleep,
    To forget about the days,
    Forget about the nights,
    Forget about you.

    Heartbroken,
    Nothing better than to sleep,
To forget that you are gone,
    To forget your lies,
    Forget the way,
    You told me,
    You never loved me,
    Forget the way,
    You looked at me,
    When you left me,
    I want to forget,
I want to leave this world,
    Close my eyes,
Fall to sleep to stop the heart,
    From beating.

    I block my ears,
    From hearing the sounds,
    Like your voice,
Like when you sing to me,
    Those lovely songs,
    They sounded to tender,
    Now they kill me,
    They hurt me,
    I don't want to hear

25 killed in Lahore twin bombs

LAHORE: At least 25 people including 13 FIA officials were killed and over 200 others were injured when two bombs that ripped through a federal police headquarters and an advertising agency in the Pakistani city of Lahore on Tuesday, police said. The blasts were the latest in a wave of violence across Pakistan that has left more than 600 people dead this year and posed a serious challenge to an incoming coalition government that won elections on February 18. The deadliest blast demolished much of the federal police headquarters in the heart of the eastern city, while the other hit an advertising office several kilometers (miles) away. Two children were among the dead. Shortly after the attacks the Australian cricket team said they were canceling an upcoming tour to Pakistan, due to security fears caused by a wave of violence across the country that has killed more than 600 people this year. Rescue workers in orange jackets frantically clawed through the debris at the site of the blast at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), which deals mainly with immigration and people smuggling. "It was a suicide attack on the FIA office and it was the target," Lahore police chief Malik Mohammad Iqbal said. Lawyer Wali Mohammed Khan, who was on the second floor of the building when the explosion happened, said the blast was "so intense that I was literally blown off my chair." "There was blood everywhere. I also saw mutilated limbs and body parts scattered around the reception area of the building," Khan said. FIA chief Tariq Pervaz said paramedics were "trying to rescue survivors from under the rubble." FIA sources said that at least 13 employees were among the dead. The building also housed the offices of a US-trained special investigation unit created to counter terrorism, which was possibly the intended target, security officials said. Pools of blood and small pieces of human flesh lay scattered on the ground outside the eight-storey building, along with clothes and pairs of shoes that were abandoned by people as they ran away. The second near-simultaneous blast was also caused by a suicide car bomb and hit an advertising agency in an upscale neighbourhood of the city, killing another four people, including two children, police said. "An explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into the office," interior ministry spokesman Brigadier Javed Cheema said. President Pervez Musharraf, a key US ally in the "war on terror", condemned the "savage act" and said that the "acts of terrorism cannot deter government's resolve to fight the scourge with full force," state media said. The explosions came a week after two suicide bombers blew themselves up at a prestigious naval college in Lahore, killing at least five people and wounding 19, officials said. Pakistan has been rocked by six major blasts since parliamentary polls on February 18, which were won by the parties of slain ex-premier Benazir Bhutto and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Benazir Bhutto herself was killed in a suicide attack in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on December 27. The parties at the weekend signed an agreement on forming a coalition government that is likely to take on Musharraf, but it must also grapple with the tide of violence engulfing the country. Pakistan has been combating an Islamist insurgency led by Al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters since Musharraf joined the US-led "war on terror" in 2001, but the violence has soared since the start of 2007. Around 600 people have died since the start of this year in suicide attacks, roadside bombings and clashes, mainly along the Afghan border in troubled northwestern Pakistan but also in major cities. Many of the attacks have targeted the armed forces, police and security forces. The army's top medical officer, Lieutenant General Mushtaq Baig, was killed in a suicide attack in the garrison city of Rawalpindi on February 25.

Lyrics Of The Song Hip Don't Lie

    Ladies up in here tonight
    No fighting, no fighting
We got the refugees up in here
    No fighting, no fighting

    Shakira, Shakira

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man wants to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
    Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

    And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
    All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection

Hey Girl, I can see your body moving
    And it's driving me crazy
And I didn't have the slightest idea
    Until I saw you dancing

And when you walk up on the dance floor
Nobody cannot ignore the way you move your body, girl
And everything so unexpected - the way you right and left it
So you can keep on taking it

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
    Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

    And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel you boy
Come on lets go, real slow
Don't you see baby asi es perfecto

Oh I know I am on tonight my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel it's right
    All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection
    Shakira, Shakira

Oh boy, I can see your body moving
    Half animal, half man
    I don't, don't really know what I'm doing
But you seem to have a plan
    My will and self restraint
Have come to fail now, fail now
See, I am doing what I can, but I can't so you know
That's a bit too hard to explain

Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día

Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de día

I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
    Shakira, Shakira

Oh baby when you talk like that
You know you got me hypnotized
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body

Senorita, feel the conga, let me see you move like you come from Colombia

Mira en Barranquilla se baila así, say it!
Mira en Barranquilla se baila así

    Yeah
She's so sexy every man's fantasy a refugee like me back with the Fugees from a 3rd world country
I go back like when 'pac carried crates for Humpty Humpty
I need a whole club dizzy
Why the CIA wanna watch us?
    Colombians and Haitians
    I ain't guilty, it's a musical transaction
No more do we snatch ropes
Refugees run the seas 'cause we own our own boats

I'm on tonight, my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel you boy
Come on let's go, real slow
    Baby, like this is perfecto

Oh, you know I am on tonight and my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel it's right
    The attraction, the tension
    Baby, like this is perfection

    No fighting
    No fighting
